When you install Windows XP an Administrator Account is created (you are asked to supply an administrator password), but the "Welcome Screen" does not give you the option to log on as Administrator unless you boot up in Safe Mode.

First you must ensure that the Administrator Account is enabled:

1 open Control Panel
2 open Administrative Tools
3 open Local Security Policy
4 expand Local Policies
5 click on Security Options
6 ensure that Accounts: Administrator account status is enabled

Then follow the instructions from the "Win2000 Logon Screen Tweak"
ie.
1 open Control Panel
2 open User Accounts
3 click Change the way users log on or log off
4 untick Use the Welcome Screen
5 click Apply Options

You will now be able to log on to Windows XP as Administrator in Normal Mode

Sometimes u feel as if a part of your own is conspiring against you, you want to win over certain situations, certain hearts, certain minds but no, you can't because as they say its all written, How long u may crave to endure that second that moment but its all a long long wait, and u still dun wanna give up,u still think still persevere everyday every second that it will happen certainly, one fine day at certain time at certain point but its all beep beep as if the person your calling is busy, and u wait in the queue for your moment of glory, the moment u can die for, u can lose anything for, even it means u have to mortgage your soul to the devil when your time is over. Is this Fate or the destiny we talk about, a never to be understood phenomenon, certainly not by us mortals, the so called class of living beings, but where is that living? Or is it what we called hope, but hopes do have their ends, their culmination, sweet or venomous, doesn't matter to me, coz that venom would have been more consumable than what this heart has to go through at times or most of the times. You will say i am confused myself, i am not confused but i am looking for certain answers, answers for which i have eaten my heart out, but does it bother anyone, the answer is something i am afraid to share, or it is something bigger than a simple yes or no. Desires are not meant to be cherished for too long else they become a pain of which there is no anesthesia, nothing i could found, or manage. Living is something else but living with desires when they have got their roots so deep in your umbra that it might be called distress, not sufficient. an agony, might work, excruciation, bingo! perfect!. Yes it is.

Recently I got a new 'Sony VAIO W series' laptop as a gift from my Dad. It was looking very cute, just 10 inch screen. I was not happy only with two things. First - It don't have DVD Drive and Second - Still it is coming with Windows XP second edition (No Vista or Windows 7).

Anyway, lets come on to the topic. After 3-4 days, one virus attacked on my lappy and suddenly it stopped showing all the hidden files. Now what to do? I know that almost all the anti-virus program can remove this virus, but I don't have net connection and I am unable to update my antivirus program. Now whatever I have to do, I have to do it without antivirus program.

Solution I -
The first solution came in my mind was, restore my laptop with some days back.

Step(s) : Start -> My Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore. And restore on the your selected date.

Solution II -
Since I knew that it is the perfect solution, so I was started some other solution for those people who don't know the exact date when their machine got virus affected. So I started playing with windows registry and got one new solution for this problem.

Step(s) :
Warning !!
You should take a back up of your current settings. You can make a restore point in system restore, or just open the registry and export the whole thing, or export some selected keys.

How to take back up of all registry entries : Start -> Run -> (type) regedit -> (rightclick on the little my computer icon, and export the whole thing.)

Go to Start -> Run -> regedit and Find this key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced. Go to the rightside of the window, where the values are. Find the value "Hidden" . Rightclick it and modify it to 1(if it is 0 means you can see hidden files, it is 1 means you are hidding your hidden files and if it is any other number means it is affetced by Virus).

This next text is from my own registry. Copy it to notepad, then rename the notepad file, so it have the extension .reg ,and then doubleclick it.:

That's all Folks!!! :)

DEADBEEF is a hexadecimal value that was used in debugging back in the mainframe/assembly days because it was easy to see when marking and finding specific memory in pages of hex dumps. Most computer science graduates have seen this at least in their assembly language classes in college and that's why interviewers expect software engineers to know it.

From Wikipedia : "0xDEADBEEF ("dead beef") is used by IBM RS/6000 systems, Mac OS on 32-bit PowerPC processors and the Commodore Amiga as a magic debug value. On Sun Microsystems' Solaris, it marks freed kernel memory. On OpenVMS running on Alpha processors, DEAD_BEEF can be seen by pressing CTRL-T.[3]"

A BAD BABE is also a Hexadecimal Number(ABADBABE) which is used by Apple as the "Boot Zero Block" magic number.
